How temperature works

Every deal on MzansiSteals has a temperature, measured in degrees. It's the community's way of saying how good a deal really is.

Heating and cooling

• Vote it hot

  See a lekker price? Tap the flame. Every hot vote adds a degree, every cold vote (the snowflake) takes one away. The temperature is simply the community's votes added up.

• Vote it cold

  Bad price, dodgy retailer, or not actually a deal? Cool it down. Deals can go below 0° — that tells everyone to give it a skip.

• HOT DEAL status

  When a deal builds up enough heat, it earns the HOT badge, the flame treatment across the site, and a place in the Trending strip. The bar for HOT is set by the community's activity and rises as MzansiSteals grows.

• Trending

  Ranking isn't raw temperature alone: newer deals get a freshness boost, so a fast-rising deal posted this morning can outrank an old scorcher. That's what the “Trending now” strip surfaces.

Kept fair

• One vote each, no self-votes

  You get one vote per deal (change it any time), you can't vote on your own deals, and votes are capped at 50 per day — all enforced at the database, not just in the app.

• The community expires deals

  Deal ended or sold out? Tap “Expired?” on the deal page. Once 3 different members flag it, the deal is marked expired automatically. (Brand-new accounts have to wait 48 hours before their flags count — no gaming the system.)

• Nothing lives forever

  Deals automatically expire 2 months after posting, so old prices never masquerade as current bargains.
